Manager of Community & Social Development and Community Services, Full Time

For more than 20 years, Kinbridge Community Association has been serving the needs of local residents and their families by providing programs and services aimed at strengthening our community of over 24,000 residents living in south Cambridge, Christopher Champlain and Southwood neighbourhoods. As a grass roots organization, Kinbridge focuses on actively engaging and empowering community through positive relationship building and the facilitation of programs and services that embrace equity, inclusion and diversity for all ages.

Kinbridge is hiring a bold and creative leader to utilize their passion building up the well-being of a connected neighbourhood. Working closely with the Executive Director you keep abreast of emerging neighbourhood needs and assets, demographics, and neighbourhood trends and changes. You are innovative, maintaining collaborative working relationships with community members, allied community agencies, professionals, and key stakeholders. As a seasoned strategic leader, you will have an opportunity to foster belonging and ignite community conversation, conceptualize, and develop new programs in a progressive and responsive organization.

Kinbridge is looking for someone who: • Is outstanding in community development and social development. • Understands and has knowledge and experience with neighbourhood-based initiatives. • Is passionate about building relationships, creating inclusive opportunities, and connecting people and resources. • Is skilled in collaborating with diverse individuals, teams, and groups towards a common goal.

The ideal candidate will be an organized and motivated self starter, with demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in community and social development. You are passionate about mentoring and leading staff teams providing opportunities, creating welcoming spaces, facilitating communication and knowledge sharing. You are skilled at listening and strategizing with the community and organizations.

Duties include: • Embody anti-racist, anti-oppressive, equity-seeking practice in all aspects of work, including with participants, community members, volunteers, neighbours, staff, stakeholders, networks, and others. Demonstrated ability to manifest an anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice in all aspects of work. • Leading and managing the development, implementation and evaluation of programs that contribute to the overall well-being of the children, youth, adults, families, and seniors in the Kinbridge neighbourhoods. • Experience in budgeting and managing financial records. • Experience in preparing and writing funding proposals • Lead the development of connections to the local neighbourhood, social activities, and community programs and services so that communities can find collective solutions to complex social issues • Demonstrated skills in leading, motivating, supervising, and developing multi-disciplinary staff teams.• Ability to maintain focus on key objectives while remaining highly flexible and responsive. • Cultivating and soliciting relationships with individuals, committees, community groups, networks and stakeholders. • Represent Kinbridge in community, fundraising events, forums and other official functions as directed, bringing relevant issues and solutions to the conversation. • Be required to attend monthly Board meetings and other Board functions as appropriate.

Qualifications

Education: Post-Secondary in any of these fields: Community Development; Human Services; Community Based Social Work; Community Based Social Development or equivalent experience

Experience: 3-5 years work experience in community development, social development, programs and services, management, budgeting, and evaluation, including supervision.

Experience in community organizing and development, outreach and stakeholder engagement.

Certifications: First Aid, [UMAB (Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviours), ASIST Training, – are assets]

Requirements: Police Records Check, including a screening with the vulnerable sector. Access to reliable transportation; Valid “G” Class Driver’s licence; use of a personal car

Experience: • Demonstrated ability to engage, motivate, and leverage stakeholders both internally and externally • Demonstrated ability to assess current priorities, workload, and resources, and establish an action plan ensuring immediate needs are met while longer-term strategies, plans and actions are developed • Proven ability to work in a collaborative, team environment, as well as, independently • Proven organizational skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills, including the ability to motivate staff and volunteers • Demonstrated abilities to work with diverse communities, views and marginalized neighbourhoods • At least three (3) years in program planning, development, including the conceptualization of new and innovative program, as well as experience in program monitoring, evaluation and oversight;

This role offers a competitive salary $70,512.00, based on a 40-hour week and benefit package. Hours will range from weekday hours with flexibility to work occasional weeknight and weekend hours to meet the needs of the program.

As a caring and compassionate organization, Kinbridge Community Association exists to build and strengthen our community and we encourage and invite community leadership through volunteerism.

Kinbridge then works with these individuals to meet that need, taking great pride along the way to foster relationships with the people next door, our police offices, other community agencies, our schools, our fire departments — people who work every day to make our community a great place to be.
